DEE WILLIAMS BIOGRAPHY
Dee Williams began her love affair with food and passion for cooking in the kitchen when she was 12 years old.Arriving in Australia, She was inspired by the variety of cuisines and cooking cultures on offer and cites her strengths in the kitchen as Asian and Sri Lankan, a confident allrounder in Malaysian, Thai and Singaporean flavours. Dee was a Top 24 Contestant in MasterChef Australia, Season 11 and the 1st Female Sri Lankan Contestant to appear on MasterChef Australia. After leaving the competition she has been renowned for her Crab Curry and Authentic Sri Lankan Chicken curry that she made in the MasterChef kitchen.
My aim is to showcase the authentic flavours of Sri Lankan cuisine by showing viewers on various social media platforms on how to create dishes and explaining the different and complex flavours through videos. I think using social media platforms is the quickest and most effective way to reach a vast amount of people around the world. I feel the western world knows a lot about Indian dishes, however, there are a lot of Sri Lankan dishes the western world is not aware of.
The general perception the western world has is that Indian and Sri Lankan foods are similar, I know in some dishes we do have some similarity, but I want to show the global market the difference in Sri Lankan flavours by showing the authentic dishes.
